Biography

Dr. Bhushan Jathar, Born on 1932 in south Indian state Karnataka,

His parents, Seetaram Bhat Tengse and Mother Kamalabai had two children, Bhushanji being the second. He was then adopted by Renukabai Jathar of Jathar Family and Named Shesh Jathar. When 16 year old, Set out and wandered from place to another , residing in places like Javali, Hubli, Mumbai, Lonavala, where he had Undergone Yogic , Vedic, Ayurvedic deeksha , Education and Practices.

 

Primary and Higher Education

He received his primary education in Gokarna, and  external Higher secondary study. He studied Medicine, specialized in Ayurvedic science at  Mahavidyalaya and Hospital, Institution Established in the year 1954 by Vaidyaguru D. A Halasikar in Hubli.  He respects Dr Halsikar for his generosity and gives complete credit of his Medicine career and knowledge to him.

 

Spiritual Study

He has studied Vedic education, Rigveda Samhite up to his age of 16 under great sage Umash Ananth Upadhyaya who was known as Dashagranthi, the title given due to the holiness of the Brahmana and core vedic knowledge.

He received Yoga Deeksha and education from from Bhushanji Tengse from Kadladi Family ( Old Mysore State ) who was the first disciple of swami Kuvalyanand at Kaivalya Dhama, Lonavala, who is primarily known for his pioneering research in to scientific foundations of yoga.  Dr Jathar’s  Spiritual inclination, idealistic and rationalist  nature impressed guru Bhushanji and Kuvalyananda. He sought scientific explanation for the various psychosomatic effects of Yoga he experienced.

He Received mantra deeksha from mantra drusta Maharshi Devarath in Gokarna. He played on laps of Maharshi during childhood, He used to often visited Brahmacharyashrama of Devarathji on the sea shore of Gokarna.

There is an interesting story about how he was enlightened with the spiritual knowledge. At the age of 16 , he left home in search of the ultimate knowledge. He ended up living amongst Sadhus at an Ashram in Maharashtra. One fine morning he saw a Sadhu was trying to chant Mantras by reading a book. While the other Sadhus came and asked this person “Did you achieve any realization yet”?  Sadhu said “I have read(chanted) this book many times but I couldn’t felt anything yet”. Interestingly Bhushan (a kid at the age of 16) could chant the entire book without referring it. By hearing the Sadhus reply he immediately understood that we are searching for the answer in this outside world but the enlightening can happen only from within. He immediately returned home. By then he is trying to spread his knowledge through all his public speaking.

 

Physical Training

He always gave equal importance to physical fitness along with career. He was influenced by wrestlers Murari and Narasimha in Gokarna. He has practiced Vyayama and Yogasanas throughout his life and you can see him as active as he is at his 20s, even now at the age of 87. He not only teaches Exercises but also has a deeper knowledge in human anatomy and orthopedics.

 

Agriculture and Farming

While growing up, he developed taste in Agriculture and horticulture science.  He transformed 14 Acres of Barren hill slope in to Herbal Medicinal, Various Cash crops, and Horticulture farm. He has used all these new drip irrigation methods in 1990’s for the entire land and converted the barren land to a fertile one. Also he believes in organic farming and never used the fertilizers and pesticides.  Few of herbal medicinal vegitations at his Farm like Trikatu, Triphala, Sarpagandha, Shatavari, and Other Holy plants like Arka, Palasha, Khadira, Apamarga, Pippalah, Audumbar, Shami, Durva, Kusha.

 

Language and Literature Study

He got Kannada and Sanskrit Language teachings from Sarsu VishveshwarBhat, A freedom fighter and known for his simple living.

He got opportunity of home study under GaurishKaikini, who is a well known litterateur, teacher and columnist in kannada language.

 

Teaching & Professorial Career

He was lecturer in Udupi Ayurvedic College from 1960 – 1964.

 

Music and Arts

He got his vocal cords trained and Hindustani Music training under Lt Pandit Kamlakar Bhat of Agra Gharana.

He organized and encouraged music training school in Gokarna which gave opportunity to many music teachers and students.

 

Religious Influence

He became the Priest of Lord Lakshi Venkatesha Temple in Gokarna as ancestral lineage and practices.

 

Political Influence

Bhushanji’s first exposure to politics was in 1966 , when he came in contact with Leaders like Jagannath Joshi and Baburao Deshpande of Bharatiya Janasangha. This was the time when Jansangh was newly formed and lead by leaders like Syama Prasad Mookerjee, AtalBihari Vajpayee and Deendayal Upadhyaya . He was chosen to be party influencer and supporter of RSS and VHP in Gokarna.  He also founded and became charted president of Lions club in Gokarna.

 

Social Welfare

He Reestablished Social Consumer society for social welfare. He became president of Sanskrit Education trust and started running the show with fundings from Dongre Maharaj . Also founded Veda Vidhyarthi Bhojana Griha, A hostel for Sanskrit students.

 

Philosophy

He lives with a very focused philosophy of  “ Plant at least a Tree a Day “

He speaks, lives, breaths through plant kingdom. He believes that plants are the vital part of Human being and the human consciousness. He Says Vegetation can only connects us with cognitive intelligence and cosmic consciousness. Apart from the fact Plants can only help us to bring deep ecological and environmental harmony.
